Marine Corps, First Lieutenant
Dic Barian enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in March 1942 while at Williams College. He was called to active duty early the following year and, after completing several training programs, was commissioned as Second Lieutenant. He was then ordered to the Light Anti-Aircraft Artillery School in Camp Lejeune, N.C. Following completion of the training course, he was retained at the school as an instructor, where he spent essentially the remainder of his WWII tour. He was released to inactive duty in November 1945 as a First Lieutenant.
